Shockwave, Tecar and laser therapy

Instrumental therapies I use when they can help, always together with manual therapy and exercise, never instead of them. In Imola and Portomaggiore.

Shockwave therapy

Acoustic pulses delivered to the tissues through the skin. They are mostly used for tendon pain that has lasted a long time, such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, and shoulder and Achilles tendinopathy. I have specific training in shockwave therapy.

Tecar therapy

Tecar therapy uses a radiofrequency current to produce heat inside the tissues. I use it to support recovery from muscle tightness, injuries, and muscle and joint pain.

High power laser (Yag)

A laser that also reaches deeper tissues, useful to reduce pain and inflammation both in recent problems and in ones that have lasted a while.

Ultrasound therapy and imaging

Therapeutic ultrasound acts on soft tissues. The ultrasound scanner, on the other hand, lets me look at tendons and muscles during the assessment: I am trained in ultrasound imaging in physiotherapy.

When I use them

I decide whether to suggest an instrumental therapy after the assessment, based on the problem and the stage of recovery. If it is not needed, I do not suggest it: the core of the plan is always hands on work and exercise.
